Athabasca Golf and Country Club was originally a nine hole layout designed in 1963.  The course was expanded to a full eighteen holes in 1995 by Sid Puddicombe.  Now with a recent $1.8 million renovation (also by Puddicombe) it boasts the 4th most difficult challenges in all of Canada. This beautiful course has much to offer even the most experienced golfer.  During your round you may encounter a variety of wildlife including fox, moose, deer or even the occasional bear.  Come test your skill and enjoy the natural beauty of Northern Alberta.

Description of Role

Athabasca Golf Club is seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented individual with
excellent communication and leadership skills to fill the assistant superintendent position.  Under the direction of the superintendent you will work in a hands on / supervisory role involved in maintaining all areas of the golf course.

Responsibilities and Duties
-Communicate on behalf of the superintendent and turf care department whenever necessary -Manage employees and projects by utilizing effective leadership skills -Teach using safe, efficient training techniques -Maintain a safe and positive environment for staff and patrons -Lead and participate in all areas of course maintenance -Implement fertility and cultural programs through accurate applications, proper documentation, and consistent monitoring -Lead/assist in maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems -Assist in troubleshooting and repair of equipment -Assist with miscellaneous tasks as needed
Desired Experience
Formal education in Turfgrass Management Minimum 3-years golf course experience Valid pesticide applicators license preferred Mechanical knowledge of turfgrass equipment Knowledge of irrigation system repair and use Experience in supervision and training of seasonal golf course staff Valid Ab driver's license
