The Edmonton Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic, self-starting individual with attention to detail to join our Golf Maintenance Team.
Description of Role
SCOPE & GENERAL Provide the finest golfing experience for our members and guests by maintaining the golf course and property landscape to the highest of standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
MAIN DUTIES:  Designs and maintains ornamental flower beds and planters throughout the golf course property.  Maintain 10000ft2 vegetable garden including crop schedule for the timing of appropriate planting and harvesting.  Knowledge of correct pruning and deadheading techniques of shrubs, flowers, and vegetables.  Understanding of drip and micro-irrigation systems.  Ability to apply pesticides and fertilizer to ornamental plantings.  Ability to budget and purchase plant material.  Ability to work alone as well as direct small crews.  Ability to solve problems and make independent decisions.  Accurate record-keeping.  Perform other duties that are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job.  Promoting and ensuring safe use of power tools and equipment.  Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
Desired Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: • Must have a thorough knowledge of perennials, annuals and how to maintain and manage them. • Must know the fundamental principles of landscaping. • CPR and First Aid are assets but not a requirement. • Valid driver's license (require Alberta license after three months for "highway vehicles") • Ability to communicate effectively with Managers and other Supervisors.
Compensation and Perks
Competitive compensation package based on skills and experience.
Additional Details
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Walking 5-10 km per shift; lifting, bending, and kneeling throughout an 8-hour shift; strength and ability to work and operate equipment safely not to harm others or the environment.
