The Edmonton Petroleum Golf & Country Club (EPGCC) is a championship golf course completed in 1993 by PGA Professional Mark McCumber, which boasts immaculately contoured greens, strategically placed bunkers, exceptionally manicured tees and fairways and is Edmonton's premier private course.

In the spring of 2019, the EPGCC will begin a large scale construction and renovation project that includes the addition of a large short-game practice area, an entirely new range complex and a championship 3-hole loop. The project will expand to other on course areas in subsequent years.

Description of Role

The irrigation technician is responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system. The irrigation technician may also have the opportunity to observe and participate in areas of the large scale construction project including a practice area, driving range complex and 3-hole loop. This position is a key member of the team and may require some team leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Duties

Install, operate, inspect and maintain all aspects of the golf course irrigation system
Perform sprinkler, fountain, water line, wiring and controller maintenance and repairs as necessary
Maintain records including such items as power consumption, water use volumes and inventory as required
Perform manual irrigation hose watering as required
Maintain all golf course ponds at required levels
Other duties assigned by Superintendent or Assistant Superintendents
New construction duties may include: installation of new irrigation components; assisting irrigation contractors as needed; assisting with construction measurement and planning; assessing and providing grow-in irrigation requirements

Desired Experience

Experience is not mandatory
Golf course experience is an asset
Enrollment or completion of education pertaining to turfgrass is an asset
