Conveniently located in the South-East corner of the city, the Grande Prairie Golf & country Club is a semi private 18-hole golf club complete with driving range and an excellent short game practice facility. We pride ourselves in providing the best possible golfing conditions in the Peace Country. The 2019 season will be an exciting one at the club. Pending final approval from the board of directors, a new irrigation system will be installed in the fall. This will be a fantastic opportunity for our new Assistant Superintendent to play a vital role in seeing the project through to successful completion.
Description of Role
We are seeking a career minded individual who is looking for new challenges with a "can do attitude". You will be an instrumental leader in the turfcare department. The ideal candidate will have an upbeat personality and the ability to keep seasonal staff focused and engaged.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist the Superintendent in the day to day operations of the turfcare department Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, retain,motivate and discipline seasonal staff Participates in the construction and maintenance of the course and grounds Supervise and participate in the application and record keeping of fertilizers and pesticides in compliance with provincial, and federal regulations Operate, repair and maintain irrigation system Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver
Desired Experience
Possess a diploma/applied degree in Turfgrass Management / Golf Course Management or adequate experience the Golf Maintenance industry Possess an Alberta Pesticide License or ability to obtain one Good organization skills Keen eye for detail with the ability to identify plant health issues / disease Positive / personable attitude with good problem solving abilities Ability to identify, prioritize and assign tasks
