Muirfield Lakes Golf Club is an 18-Hole,Par 70, Semi-Private golf facility located 25 minutes east of Calgary in the hamlet of Lyalta. We cater to both members and public players and host a variety of club tournaments, corporate events and other social golf events.
As the Course Superintendent, you will manage and oversee the Turf Department operations, as well as the maintenance of the golf course’s property. You will be accountable for the departmental budget, hiring, training and development of staff and all related safety and pesticide standards. The Course Superintendent must be a team player, be detailed orientated and also the organizational skills needed to run a successful department.
The development and implementation of the yearly departmental budget, Course improvement plan and quality maintenance standards for the golf course and property in conjunction with the senior leadership team.
Training, coaching, and supervising the Turf Department Team
Scheduling and allocation of the maintenance team and the equipment to accomplish the daily, weekly and monthly work plans
Managing all aspects of the Course’s irrigation system
Managing all aspects of the Course’s Pesticide Program through the calibration, application and recording of fertilizer and pesticide use as part of the IPM program
Keeping accurate and complete records on the cost of inventory, the maintenance of equipment, pesticide and fertilizer applications and other practices;
Identify and diagnose turf pests, diseases or other issues harmful to the Course
Maintaining excellent Supplier relations
Working shifts that can include weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays
Communicating effectively and professionally with Club Management and Co-Workers
All other related duties as assigned
2+ years of Greens Dept. experience at the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent level
Experience with Toro irrigation systems and controls and pump house systems
Graduated from a recognized Turf Management Program or the equivalent in experience
Have a provincial license for the application of pesticides or the ability to obtain
Be available to work full time from mid- March to mid-November.
