The Red Deer Golf and Country Club is a private 18 hole facility located in the heart of Red Deer Alberta. The club was established in 1922. We will be hosting the Canadian Women's Amateur this year.

Description of Role

The Red Deer Golf and Country Club is  is a private, family club established in 1922. We are seeking a hard working, motivated, professional to join the Turfcare team. The Assistant Superintendent will be a a key part of the management team and provide leadership and guidance to direct the day to day operations of the Turfcare department. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a professional individual that is looking to work in a private golf course environment and with a strong supportive membership and management team.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Help with the recruitment, mentoring, and leadership of the seasonal staff

· Ability to work independently to carry out written and verbal instructions

· Coordination with Superintendent and team members to accomplish daily tasks in an efficient manner

· Disease/pest scouting and determining appropriate solutions

· Irrigation monitoring and maintenance in accordance with turf needs

· Other duties as required and assigned by the Superintendent





Desired Experience

· Diploma or Degree in a recognized Turfgrass Management program

· Valid Pesticide license or ability to obtain one

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks

· Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and management

· Manages maintenance operations (employees involved in maintaining greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water,roughs, maintenance shop, golf carts and clubhouse) by assisting in recruiting,selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, supervising and correcting when necessary

· Assists Superintendent in executing safety meetings

· Extremely driven in their career and willing to put in the necessary hours to be successful
