Alberta Golf Superintendents Association Scholarships

Part of the mandate of the AGSA is to promote the position of the Golf Course Superintendent and to achieve more recognition for the Superintendent as an authority on golf course maintenance, cultural requirements of fine turfgrasses and its environment.
One component that is crucial in achieving this recognition is to ensure that all of our members are well educated in the science of turfgrass maintenance.  It is for this reason that the AGSA proudly offers its annual scholarship program.
The AGSA scholarship is offered to any full time student involved in the Alberta Golf Industry.  Applicants may either be Alberta residents, employed at golf clubs in Alberta, or attending post secondary education at one of the recognized turfgrass management programs in Alberta.
For full details regarding scholarships offer through the Alberta Golf Superintendents Association contact your program coordinator or contact the AGSA office.

The AGSA offers 2 scholarships:

The final selection of scholarship recipients rests with the Scholarship Committee of the Alberta Golf Superintendents' Association.

All candidates who satisfy the foregoing requirements then compete, on a basis of their overall record, for a single scholarship of one thousand ($1000) to be awarded annually.  Because there are more scholarship applicants each year than there are available scholarships, it is not possible to award scholarships to all applicants who satisfy the requirements for nomination.  AGSA scholarships are awarded without regard to race, sex, creed, age, or national origin.

Candidates must submit a transcript from each institution attended since graduating from high school.

Forms completed by a school adviser and a golf course superintendent must also be submitted to the AGSA Scholarship Committee, PO Box 3857, Olds, AB, T4H 1P5.  These letters need not accompany the application, but must be postmarked by November 15th.  The forms are included with the scholarship application packet.

AGSA Scholarships are awarded for one academic year at the option of the AGSA Scholarship Committee and may be renewed for one additional year upon reapplication by the student.
